Biography

Frederick E. Woltman was identified as Pittsburgh secretary of the American Civil Liberties Union. The November 12, 1928 Daily Worker reports his actual arrest on May 9 while observing police break up a White Valley coal-strike picket line, on an inciting-to-riot charge. It discusses a $50,000 damages action against Trooper John G. Russell filed in August. The passage does not securely resolve which strike year its May 9 refers to, so no exact dated custody field is assigned. The damages claim is not another arrest, and release and complete confinement remain unknown.
