Biography

Fred Kearns was a secretary of the Hill Section Unemployed Council in Pittsburgh. Carl Price’s account in the Daily Worker, July 25, 1931, page 6 says Kearns and George Brown were held under 10,000-dollar bonds each for helping prevent sheriffs from evicting an unemployed Black family on the Hill. This George Brown is separate from the later 1972 hijacking defendant. Source: https://www.marxists.org/history/usa/pubs/dailyworker/1931/v08-n178-NY-jul-25-1931-DW-LOC.pdf
