Biography

Fred Gianizco was a miner from Wyano, Westmoreland County, who spoke at the District 5 miners’ convention reported June 1, 1928. In a first-person account, he described fifty-nine miners, mostly aged sixteen to twenty, actually serving three and a half days in jail. He said officials offered release without bail if they returned to work and that the miners refused. The fractional period is preserved without rounding to an integer day count. Exact admission and discharge days are unknown. Source: https://www.marxists.org/history/usa/pubs/dailyworker/1928/1928-ny/v05-n129-NY-jun-01-1928-DW-LOC.pdf#page=2
