Biography

Frank Williams organized Birmingham’s Unemployment Council. Angelo Herndon recalls police raiding the council’s office, destroying equipment, and taking Williams and other leaders to the county jail across the street. Herndon’s attempted jail visit was refused. Supporters in New York furnished bail and the prisoners were released. Exact arrest and release days, statutory charge and complete duration are unprinted.
