Biography
Frank Rogers was Cleveland secretary of the Steel and Metal Workers Industrial Union. The Daily Worker of July5,1934 reports that a Euclid court convicted him following the April27 Chase Brass strike. Mayor Ely imposed thirty days in jail, a $50 fine and costs, denied a new trial and raised bond from $2,000 to $2,500. Union supporters raised the bond within hours for his appeal. The source does not establish his exact arrest day or actual time served.
The Cleveland district organizer of the Steel and Metal Workers Industrial Union is named among five arrested during the Chase Brass strike and released on $4,000 property bail each. The report calls the accusation disturbing the peace and schedules trial for May 12. This adds an earlier bail report to the existing Euclid case, without treating the proposed trial as an outcome. The June 29 report links his Chase Brass prosecution to an April 27 strike arrest and reports a guilty decision. The individual sentence appears in a separately recorded later issue; this article’s arrest date and verdict are not another Euclid case. Daily Worker, June 30, 1934, page 3.
