Biography

Frank Maskaluskas was one of the ten Cheswick defendants individually named in Vern Smith’s retrospective article in the August 26, 1929 Daily Worker. The article describes actual arrests after police attacked the August 22, 1927 Sacco-Vanzetti protest meeting, an initial murder accusation, and reduction to rioting, inciting to riot and resisting an officer, with unspecified minor counts. It says the repeatedly postponed prosecution had not yet come to trial. The article’s defense account of police violence and self-defense is attributed, not an independent judicial finding. It does not establish uninterrupted confinement from 1927 to 1929, an exact personal intake, physical release or completed detention.
