Biography

Francis L. Geddes was a San Francisco minister and was arrested with eight other airport Freedom Riders at the Jackson Municipal Airport on July 21, 1961 — one of the arrests recorded by the Mississippi State Sovereignty Commission and preserved in the Civil Rights Digital Library. The catalog establishes the arrest, the participation, and the individually identified police photograph, but not the court disposition, any transfer to Parchman, or the physical release date; those fields are unresolved pending county-jail, court, or penitentiary records.

Custody record

The Movement’s November 1965 front-page caption identifies Geddes among nine ministers jailed during the Delano grape-strike campaign. This is additional custody, but its exact individual admission, release and length remain unresolved.
