Biography
The July 23 Western Worker prints a July 14 Portland report identifying Floyd Burgess arrested on assault and assault-and-battery allegations involving three welfare officials. The paper says an official, Winterer, attacked him while Burgess served on a relief committee. It reports ILD reduction of bail from 2700 dollars to 1300 dollars and actual release on bail; the defense campaign sought dismissal. Burgess had a wife and five children, including a baby reported anemic and prescribed iron by dieticians. No exact arrest or physical release day or final verdict is supplied.
