Biography

James Cox “Fergie” Chambers Jr. is an American communist activist and donor to Palestinian humanitarian and legal-defense causes. Spanish officers arrested him in Ibiza on July 10, 2026 under a United States extradition request alleging money laundering and financial support for organizations the government linked to Hamas. Chambers and his attorneys described the sealed prosecution as political retaliation for his Palestine solidarity work. Spain held him at Aranjuez prison near Madrid. On September 22 the Spanish cabinet allowed the extradition request to proceed to the National Court, and Chambers opposed extradition at a September 28 hearing. The court had not issued a final extradition decision as of October 3, 2026.
