Biography
Felda Barnes was one of four Black people arrested in an Ensley raid on May 17, 1934 during the Birmingham mine-strike campaign against alleged radicals. John Howard Lawson’s dispatch explicitly names Felda Barnes at 2011 Avenue K. Police Chief Hollums announced the seizure of International Labor Defense cards and literature demanding equal jury service, voting and political-office rights for Black people. The report supplies no individual statutory charge, trial result, physical release or complete custody duration. The printed name is retained without an unsupported expansion.
