Biography

Esther Kleiman was a New York participant in a fur workers’ visit supporting the 1926 Passaic textile strike. Police arrested her during the July 25 demonstration in New Jersey. She was fined $25 for disturbing the peace. Contemporary union and Federated Press reports document the arrest and its labor context.

The Daily Worker of August 4, 1926, identifies Police Judge Davidson as the judge who fined Sylvia and Esther Kleiman $25 each for disturbing the peace following the July 25 Passaic strike solidarity procession. The report does not establish an exact sentencing date or a substantive custodial term.
