Biography

Ernest Jones was secretary of the Illinois State Committee of Unemployment Councils. The Daily Worker of July 10, 1934, page 2, reports from Pekin on July 9 that police arrested him and Robert Minor the previous day. Jones was jailed on a charge of resisting an officer and remained in jail at the time of the dispatch. The article connects the arrests to an effort to obstruct a corn-products strike conference. Neither a sentence nor his eventual release or actual detention duration is supplied. Source: https://www.marxists.org/history/usa/pubs/dailyworker/1934/v11-n164-jul-10-1934-DW-LOC.pdf
