Biography
Elizur Wright was an abolitionist newspaper editor (Boston Chronotype, Commonwealth) and Boston Vigilance Committee organizer. Prosecuted by the federal government for his role in the February 1851 rescue of Shadrach Minkins; the jury hung and the case was eventually dropped. Wright was also a foundational actuary of U.S. life insurance regulation and a co-founder of the American Anti-Slavery Society.
