Biography

Edward Hibbard was arrested in November 1917 in the roundup of IWW members in Omaha, Nebraska. After over eighteen months in local jails, all charges against him were dropped.

Latchem’s April 12 letter names him in the November 13, 1917 Omaha convention arrests, individually reports release on 1918-12-13 on $1,000 bond, and says the last group of 27 was indicted September 21, 1918. This corroborates the recorded bail endpoint but contradicts the older no-indictment wording. No continuous exact total or later dismissal is inferred.

Case

Charges: Espionage Act of 1917 and/or the Sedition Act of 1918
Arrested: Nov 13, 1917
Incarcerated: November 13, 1917
Released: December 13, 1918
Sentence: The May 1920 Latchem roster reports indictment September 21, 1918 and release on $1,000 bond 1918-12-13. No imposed prison term or final disposition established here. Earlier no-indictment wording conflicts with this contemporary correction; release on bail is not acquittal.
Convicted: No
