Biography

E. Basruk is named in the January 1932 Labor Defender winter-aid roster under Others in Blawnox Workhouse. The November 24, 1931 Daily Worker had already listed the surname Basruk among the workers then serving sentences at Blawnox for activity in the miners strike. The same unusual surname, prison and coal-strike context connect the earlier surname-only notice with the later initialed entry. Only the initial E. is supplied; no given name, individual statutory charge, nominal sentence, exact arrest or release day, or completed custody duration is inferred.
