Biography

Dustin Stevens entered the U.S. Army in 2002 and refused to complete 82nd Airborne Division training after concluding that he could not kill. The Army sent him home to await discharge, but a routine traffic stop on January 15, 2009 revealed a military warrant. He was returned to Fort Bragg and held on restriction in the 82nd Holdover Unit while facing a desertion court-martial. Following a public campaign against the unit's conditions and prolonged pretrial restrictions, the Army canceled the court-martial and discharged him in early November 2009.
