Biography
Dion Ortiz, a member of San Felipe Pueblo, was prosecuted for civil disorder arising from the October 27, 2016 Standing Rock protests against the Dakota Access Pipeline. He was sentenced to sixteen months on October 22, 2018 and released from FCI Sandstone to a halfway house on April 3, 2019. His federal custody admission date remains unverified.
Custody phases verified October 12, 2026: The Water Protector Legal Collective distinguishes April 3, 2019 release from FCI Sandstone to a New Mexico halfway house. The official BOP locator confirms DION ORTIZ, register 16559-059, age 30, no longer in BOP custody as of August 12, 2019. That later endpoint is recorded in a separate halfway-house phase. The unrelated West Tennessee state-prison link was removed; no unsupported initial admission or arrest date was added. Later custody reports remain separate unresolved episodes.
