Biography
Diane Ford was a California antiwar activist associated with Vietnam Veterans Against the War. In her first-person account of an early-1970s anti-police-brutality demonstration in Watts, she described police arresting her outside the meeting church at about 3 p.m. on a Saturday on a loitering accusation. She was held at Firestone Jail, transported overnight by police bus and booked at the Sybil Brand Institute for Women, remaining in custody through Monday before her actual release. She reported that the group had not left its van when police intervened. The calendar dates, final disposition and exact completed custody total remain unverified.
