Biography
Diamond Kimm was a Korean-born metallurgical engineer, former Office of Strategic Services operative, and editor of the Los Angeles newspaper Korean Independence. Immigration authorities served him with a warrant and arrested him on June 16, 1950 for overstaying the student status under which he had entered the United States. His newspaper’s opposition to the Syngman Rhee government made deportation to South Korea potentially fatal. Kimm fought the order through the Supreme Court, which ruled against him in 1960, and he was deported to North Korea in 1962. The reviewed record does not establish his release date after the 1950 arrest.
