Biography

Denmark Vesey was the free Black carpenter prosecuted and executed after the alleged planned 1822 Charleston slave insurrection. Otto Hall’s retrospective article describes Vesey acting as his own lawyer, cross-examining witnesses and declining to implicate others. The article’s uncertain Haiti birthplace account and aggregate execution counts are not adopted as individual facts. That retrospective does not supply exact individual dates or a complete custody duration. Source: https://www.marxists.org/history/usa/pubs/labordefender/1934/v10n02-feb-1934-lab-def.pdf#page=13
