Biography
Daniel R. Smith, writing as Ahmal U Abba and identifying himself with Attica prison number 27228, was an imprisoned survivor of the September 13, 1971 retaking of Attica. His written testimony was read at an October 31, 1971 Black Panther Party People’s Tribunal because he remained incarcerated. He describes being stripped, beaten and singled out as a supposed ringleader during the retaking and subsequent custody. These are his attributed contemporary allegations; the source does not identify his underlying conviction, initial prison admission or release.
