Biography
Clarence Jones was a member of the Louisiana State Chapter of the Black Panther Party in New Orleans who regularly delivered the party newspaper with Vincent Robinson. In October 1971, Covington police arrested Jones and Vincent Robinson while they distributed the party newspaper. The two were jailed in St. Tammany Parish and later released on bond. Their exact booking and release days and the outcome of the attempted-robbery accusation remain unresolved.
The December 1971 account distinguishes the two men’s October Covington jail stay from Robinson’s later November 3 arrest in New Orleans. Both men returned to community work after being released on bond from St. Tammany Parish Jail.
