Biography

Christopher Solomon Proctor is a Salt Lake City man and self-described anarchist held in federal pretrial detention over an alleged September 12, 2025 attempt to burn a KSTU-TV news vehicle. Prosecutors allege that a masked person placed a gasoline can with a long fuse beneath the parked vehicle and lit it; the fuse burned out before reaching the gasoline, and nobody was injured. Investigators say DNA on the can matched Proctor, surveillance and license-plate-reader records placed him near the station, and searches recovered similar boots, gloves, a gas can, and fuse. Proctor was arrested on September 29, indicted the following day for attempted arson affecting interstate commerce and possession of an unregistered destructive device, and pleaded not guilty. On October 6, Magistrate Judge Dustin Pead ordered him detained pending trial. The allegations remain unproved, and the latest public reporting located for this profile did not establish a conviction, release, or final disposition.
