Biography

Christopher French, an anti-NATO protester from Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, was arrested in Chicago on May 20, 2012 after a confrontation near Van Buren Street and Wabash Avenue during protests surrounding the NATO summit. Prosecutors initially charged him with felony aggravated battery of police officers. French spent 84 days in jail before posting bond. On August 15, 2013, he pleaded guilty to misdemeanor resisting arrest after prosecutors dropped the felony charge. Judge Carol Howard sentenced him to 364 days in Cook County Jail, credited the 84 days already served, and imposed $254 in fines and fees.
