Biography

Casmiero Lamieras was among the New Bedford textile pickets arrested and taken to jail after police broke their Paige Mills picket formation in September 1928. The paper describes him as a picket captain arrested eight times, but supplies no separate dates or outcomes for seven earlier arrests. The report describes $20 fines, an appeal by the union lawyer and bail as high as $600 each, without an actual bail release. The September 14 dispatch first says nine pickets were arrested this morning but then dates the line confrontation yesterday; the individual event is therefore stored only at month precision rather than choosing September 13 or 14. No total time served is established. Source: Daily Worker, September 15, 1928, page 1, https://www.marxists.org/history/usa/pubs/dailyworker/1928/1928-nat/v05-n219-NAT-sep-15-1928-DW-Q.pdf
