Biography

Casimiro Bueno Absolor was a Portland member and election-committee officer of the Filipino cannery workers’ union, later ILWU Local 37. Immigration agents arrested and jailed him in August 1949 on an accusation of Communist Party membership and released him after supporters posted $500 bail. Agents arrested him again under the McCarran Act in October 1950, and a civil-rights committee again posted bail. The available accounts do not give exact custody dates. His deportation order was ultimately defeated with the other Local 37 cases.
