Biography

Casey Brezik is a Kansas City–area anarchist who slashed a community-college dean in 2010 at an event where Missouri's governor was due to appear. After years held as incompetent to stand trial, he pleaded guilty in 2013 and was sentenced to 12 years. He was released in January 2026.

The 2021 list describes Brezik’s pretrial psychiatric confinement after he was declared incompetent in February 2011, followed by sentencing in June 2013 and transfer to the diagnostic and reception prison in St. Joseph, Missouri. It specifies three twelve-year terms and one seven-year term, all concurrent, rather than an aggregate forty-three-year sentence. The 2026 NYC ABC update separately confirms he had returned home; its January 24 notice is not proof of the exact physical release day.
