Biography

C. Gaudio was an Italian unemployed Chicago worker arrested with supporters after an eviction. The ILD report printed July 5, 1930 describes police beating workers moving his furniture and then arresting eight of them after they left the house. They were held twenty-four hours before booking on inciting-to-riot and disorderly-conduct charges, under $400 bail each. Twenty-four hours is only the prebooking interval, not the whole detention; no physical release day or complete duration is established. The surname Gaudia in the last line is retained as a source variant without inventing a first name.
