Biography

Bo Brinson was a Black tenant farmer in Moultrie, Georgia. An October 20 report says a band deputized and led by Sheriff T. V. Beard dragged Brinson from his home, beat him and killed him on Thursday, October 17, 1935. The band was searching for another Black farmer; the account says Brinson tried to defend himself. International Labor Defense protested the lynching and the subsequent terror against Black farm families extending toward Florida. This is actual extrajudicial captivity during racial repression; no criminal charge or prior judicial sentence is established.
