Biography
Bill Morgan was a farmer from Greenville, Alabama, one of many people convicted and imprisoned under the federal Espionage and Sedition Acts for opposing American involvement in World War I. Sentenced to two years, he served his term at the United States Penitentiary in Atlanta from December 1919 to November 23, 1920 — and famously refused an offer of parole, choosing to serve out his full sentence rather than accept early release on the government's terms.
