Biography

Bill Davis is individually named in Bill Haywood’s memoir installment XLV among Western Federation of Miners defendants arrested over the Vindicator mine explosion in the Cripple Creek labor war. Haywood says the district attorney quashed those indictments for lack of evidence. He is also individually named as arrested and tried in a separate attempted train-wreck prosecution; Haywood describes a directed acquittal after prosecution testimony exposed a claimed detective plot. The memoir reports repeated earlier arrests but does not enumerate or date them; no numerical actual duration, exact custody endpoint or additional inferred episode is added. The source name is kept distinct from other Davis, Foster and Kennedy records unless further identity evidence emerges. Page 6.
