Biography
Basil Wahib was a dye worker arrested during the Paterson, New Jersey strike on October 20, 1933. Police attacked the picket line outside the National Piece Dye Works in East Paterson, shooting and injuring strikers. Wahib was among thirteen people arrested. He was refused bail while authorities investigated deportation, then transferred to Ellis Island and held for deportation to the Philippines. The International Labor Defense organized the strikers' legal defense and protested the police shootings.
