Biography

Anna Swetlet was among three workers arrested at the February 10, 1931 unemployment-relief demonstration in McKeesport. The Daily Worker names Anna Swetlet and Frank Kovach as arrested in the street and describes police breaking into a room in Danders Hotel and beating speaker Michael Sparks. It says all three were brought to trial the next day, fined $25 each and, when they refused to pay, given thirty-day sentences by Judge Lundie. No statutory count, jail institution, actual admission or physical release is supplied; thirty days is the imposed term, not verified time served.
