Biography

Anna Lynn was a young member of the Young Communist League in Philadelphia. The Daily Worker of April 17, 1931 reports that she and the other named defendant had been tried and convicted for distributing leaflets to National Guardsmen asking them not to shoot workers in another imperialist war. They were awaiting sentence under the Pennsylvania sedition-law campaign. The report does not establish an exact arrest day, sentence, admission, release or time served. Page 1 names Anna Lynn, aged twenty-one of the 2400 block of North Thirtieth Street, among eleven arrested and clubbed in resistance to eviction of a Black family at 3617 Warren Street. The named charges were inciting to riot, disorderly conduct, breach of the peace, resisting arrest and attempted assault and battery. This later Philadelphia anti-eviction case is separate from her earlier antiwar-leaflet sedition prosecution.
