Biography

Ann Rubio Froines was a civil-rights, antiwar and feminist organizer. As a Swarthmore student in November 1963, she joined the Chester, Pennsylvania school-desegregation campaign and was arrested in a sit-in. She and other women students were sent to a state prison overnight because the local jail could not accommodate them, then released after professors raised bail. She later organized political defense for the Chicago defendants and the New Haven Panthers.
