Biography

Andrea Holman Bert was one of four people whom The Anvil identified as jailed in San Bernardino for six months while awaiting a murder trial following Ronald Beaty’s 1972 escape from Chino custody. The United Prisoners Union article connected the prosecution to prison-support organizing and reported repeated denial of bail. Its claim that the charges were false is the publication’s position, not a verified court disposition. The report identifies Andrea as eighteen, working with the Prison Law Project to investigate facts and prepare legal documents for prisoners, and recently married to Doug Bert. Her reported age is not converted into an exact birth date.

Source and custody limits

The complete original article individually names all four and expressly reports actual six-month pretrial confinement. This is not an overnight arrest or merely a sentence announcement. Exact arrest, admission, release, final verdict and completed duration remain unverified. The issue’s cover says April without a year; an adjacent trial report is explicitly dated April 3, 1973, while another article prints a conflicting December 1973 date. No exact custody endpoint is inferred from publication chronology.
