Biography
Amber Canavan is an animal-rights activist and Animal Protection and Rescue League volunteer. She investigated conditions at Hudson Valley Foie Gras and participated in rescuing ducks. A criminal-trespass conviction resulted in county-jail custody in 2015.
Arrest and sentencing reviewed October 12, 2026: Will Potter's July 5, 2015 interview, Investigator Speaks As She Heads to Jail for Exposing Factory Farm Cruelty, syndicated on his author blog, records Canavan's own account of arrest in May 2013 and the June 3, 2015 hearing at which the judge imposed the jail term and protection order. Arrest is month precision; May 1 is storage, not an asserted day. The 2011 investigation is not the arrest date. Existing June 30 admission and July 29 release are unchanged; initial pretrial detention is not merged into the later sentence interval.
