Biography
Allan Hoffman was a 19-year-old artist and member of the Committee for Non-Violent Action sentenced to 60 days in the workhouse — then the harshest term ever imposed under the act — for refusing to take shelter during New York's compulsory civil-defense drill on April 28, 1961.
