Alfredo Juarez Zeferino

Alfredo “Lelo” Juarez Zeferino is a Mixtec farmworker organizer from Oaxaca who came to the United States as a child. He helped found Familias Unidas por la Justicia as a teenager and later worked with Community to Community Development. Immigration agents detained him during a traffic stop in Sedro-Woolley, Washington, on March 25, 2025, while a 2018 removal order was pending. After nearly four months at the Northwest ICE Processing Center, an immigration judge granted voluntary departure on July 14, 2025, and Juarez returned to Mexico later that month.
