Biography
Alfred McCoy was associated with the New Orleans chapter of the Black Panther Party during the 1970 confrontations around the Desire housing project. He was convicted of aggravated battery against two police infiltrators of the party (Melvin Howard and Israel Fields) and sentenced to five years at Louisiana's Angola penitentiary — part of the wider New Orleans prosecution that became known for the "New Orleans 24."
