Biography

Albert Gonzalez was president of the Trappers’ and Fisherman’s Union in Louisiana. Sender Garlin’s retrospective article on page 2 describes the fight over trapping rights around Delacroix Island: Leander Perez imposed a separate $50 fee beginning in the 1924-25 season, helped organize the Violet Trapping Company the following year, and armed men attacked trappers. After an exchange of shots killed a deputy, three union members, including Gonzalez, were arrested and later freed. The scan spells his surname Gonzalez. The article does not give the arrest year or precise dates, formal charges, trial outcome, or length of detention; the sequence is not converted into an exact 1925 or 1926 arrest.
