Biography

Agnes Tankovich was a nineteen-year-old miner’s daughter active on coal-strike picket lines in the Fairpoint section of Ohio. The October 13 Bridgeport dispatch published in the Daily Worker, October 15, 1931, page 3 reports her conviction for assault in a menacing manner. It identifies the arresting deputy as the prosecution’s principal witness and criticizes jury selection. Sentencing before Judge H. Tyler and an ILD new-trial request were still prospective in the dispatch. Source: https://www.marxists.org/history/usa/pubs/dailyworker/1931/v08-n248-NY-oct-15-1931-DW-LOC.pdf
