Biography

Ace Heikkila was a North Dakota farm leader arrested over protests against federal prosecution of farmers resisting forced farm sales. The Daily Worker of March 2, 1935, page 5, in a Bismarck March 1 dispatch, names him and Hy Wallace as arrested and held on contempt-of-court and intimidating-the-federal-court charges. It reports $2,500 bond for Heikkila and $1,000 for Wallace. Judge Andrew Miller had ordered arrests of leaders whose organizations protested the Minot federal court's prosecution of nine farmers for actions against debt sales. The source gives no exact arrest day, custody institution or outcome. Source: https://www.marxists.org/history/usa/pubs/dailyworker/1935/v12-n053-NAT-mar-02-1935-DW-Q.pdf
