Biography
Aaron Slutzker, also printed as Aaron Slutzkar in the same immigration file, was arrested in Seattle on November 28, 1917 on an allegation of advocating or teaching anarchy and was transferred to Ellis Island for deportation proceedings. Federal file 54235/112 records that he denied IWW membership; the reviewing bureau found neither Russian Workers Union membership nor active distribution of IWW literature established. The deportation warrant instead alleged that he had been likely to become a public charge at his last entry from Canada. The record says he had served briefly in the Canadian Army and was discharged as physically unfit for overseas duty. Following a March 14, 1919 decision reopening his case, he was actually released on his own recognizance on March 17, 1919. A September 28, 1919 date printed for an earlier deportation decision conflicts with this sequence and is not silently corrected or treated as executed removal. His complete custody duration is not established.
