Biography

A. Ponkin was a participant named only by an initial and surname arrested during the August 13, 1929 Harlem street meeting at 138th Street and Seventh Avenue. The following day’s newspaper individually names seven people beaten and arrested when police tried to break up the meeting. It does not establish this person’s release or complete detention.
