Biography
A. E. Brundson edited the Loup City People’s Standard, which he began publishing in 1921. It championed the Nebraska Farm Holiday movement, opposed New Deal agricultural policy, and supported creamery workers and antiwar organizing. He denied Communist Party membership. The September 13, 1934 Standard reported his arrest for libeling Deputy State Sheriff Otto Dudschus and his release on bond after he alleged Dudschus helped direct the anti-organizer attack and accused him of criminal misconduct. Brundson failed to appear for trial and left Loup City in November 1934; his wife sold the presses in October. Rowley separately mentions an unspecified 1914 conviction and served sentence in Omaha, but does not establish a political basis or enough detail for a second case.
