Biography

A. D. Baugh was an active Oklahoma City bakery unionist jailed during a boycott of non-union bread. Mary Heaton Vorse’s dispatch dated September 3, 1936 reports that he was in jail the preceding night, accused of throwing steel slugs through chain-grocery windows. Police said an unidentified informant supplied his vehicle license number. After release on bail, Baugh reported a threatening phone call ordering him to leave town. Bakery delegate H. A. Shaw denounced the prosecution as a frame-up; this is an attributed union allegation rather than a judicial finding. The source gives initials only and no exact initial arrest or physical release time. Source: https://www.marxists.org/history/usa/pubs/dailyworker/1936/v13-n213-NY-sep-04-1936-DW-Q.pdf#page=5
